Longest time in primary?

Longest time in primary?

Postby RossH » Sun Dec 30, 2012 6:16 pm

I just kegged a couple beers last night. A BPA and a Flanders Brown. According to my notes the Brown was brewed 4/29/2011. That's 610 days or 1 year 8 months in a bucket. :o I've never been more proud to have been so lazy.

I might have thought I'd win this one, but you've got me beat. My "Oatwine" (a barleywine made with 50% oat malt) went into the primary on 8/20/2011, and went 100% untouched until 11/24/2012...462 days. I had planned to keg it and bring a sample to a meeting (it was 1/4 of a club project) but I tasted it and it was thoroughly disgusting. It went straight down the drain.

I assume that yours fared better?

I was pleasantly surprised that it was pretty drinkable. The F.G. was 1.000 but it's not too sour. I think the planned OG was 1.060? I was concerned that it would be oxidized from being in the bucket the whole time. Although the bucket is now permanently stained.

I'm at 1275 days for an Imperial Stout. I just oaked it last week. Thinking about pitching some sugar and some funk in it soon.
